Music Services

Music for all

We are a Music Service that offers a varied programme of support for schools, and we are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to make music.

A leading organisation in the North Yorkshire Music Hub, we provide support to schools and other settings to enable them to meet their requirements of the National Plan for Music Education, giving every child the chance to sing and learn to play a musical instrument.

Benefits for your organisation

By offering high quality and high calibre tuition through specialist instrumental teachers, pupils from all financial backgrounds have access to music.

More than that, we take care of everything – all the administration, recruitment and child protection policies are covered so you don’t have to worry. Furthermore, we work in 91% of secondary schools and 95% of primary schools within North Yorkshire.

Offering a range of packages that support your school’s curriculum, when it comes to choosing the best for your school, look no further than our Music Service.

Our whole class tuition develops pupils’ instrumental and vocal skills whilst covering the requirements of the National Curriculum.

Providing a cost effective way to provide PPA cover and fulfilling the music curriculum at the same time, our sessions are delivered by qualified teachers and music specialists.

Each session can also be used towards achieving the Arts Award and the New Arts Mark.

What we offer:

  • We will work alongside the music coordinator to develop a school’s music plan
  • We can teach the National Curriculum for Music using orchestral instruments, guitars, keyboards or percussion
  • A range of instruments to hire, from guitars and violins to specialist instruments such as the djembe
  • CPD opportunities for school based staff

Included in our larger packages, the Health Check is vital in evaluating your current music provision.

Helping schools to develop a considered music plan, we will look at all aspects of the music curriculum, with extra-curricular activities, teaching and learning and leadership and management all included.

Developed as a toolkit, you can use the kit yourself or work with one of our qualified teachers who will offer expert advice.

  • Advice on developing an improvement plan
  • Using the toolkit as part of the Arts Mark process
  • Our health check can help senior leaders to assess the quality and direction of their music curriculum

As part of the Government’s initiative in developing music in schools, our Wider Opportunities Programme is a rolling programme where all schools have the opportunity to access whole class instrumental tuition.

Schools are offered 35 one hour whole class sessions one term of which is free, whilst also offering a flexible choice of three packages: Gold, Silver and Bronze.

What we offer:

  • Access to free instruments
  • Free music curriculum health check
  • Silver and Gold packages include a range of extras – support from a qualified teacher, CPD events, school workshops, concerts, support with Arts Awards
  • Lesson planning
  • Liaison with schools
  • Supporting pupils to access beginner ensembles
